Sophrology

INTRODUCTION TO SOPHROLOGY

Sophrology is a self-development method and practice using body & mind. It is inspired by Western and Eastern techniques.  Like meditation, Buddhism, Japanese Zen and yoga as well as modern therapeutic and philosophical techniques, such as relaxation, self- suggestion, and phenomenology. It was created in 1960 by Alfonso Caycedo, a Colombian neuropsychiatrist.

The word SOPHROLOGY comes from the Greek SOS PHREN LOGOS where SOS stands for “harmony”; PHREN “consciousness/spirit”; LOGOS “study/science”.  Sophrology is the science of harmony applied to human consciousness.

Aim of Sophrology:

The practice of sophrology improves the balance of mind and body. It helps to develop a peaceful consciousness, it helps to get to know yourself better, to be connected to your desires, to your needs and to your values. By listening to your body, your feelings, it allows you to effectively manage difficult moments and stress.

Sophrology aims to boost the qualities and available ressources that you have, helping to unlock your full potential both professionally and personally. We all can solve our problems, reach our goals and be able access happiness.

Sophrology session:

All sessions always start with an exchange on the general state of your health, both physically and psychologically or emotionally.

The interview enables a tailored session adapted to your goal and adjust it as best as possible to your situation.

This is achieved through simple exercises accessible to all. The tools used are breathing, relaxation, physical movements, mental visualisations techniques. When practised regularly, it lead to a healthy, relaxed body and a calm, alert mind.

After the session, you can share your experience, your feelings. This is a good feedback to plan your next session.

The session takes about 1 hour. We also offer skype or zoom sessions if you are unable to come to the practice in person.
